Get Outdoors! Saturday Programs
This program is designed to introduce local youth to the benefits of outdoor recreation through FREE adventurous and engaging activities along the Kings River. Transportation is available from central locations is available in Fresno and Sanger.

Saturday Get Outdoors! Programs typically take place on the first Saturday of each month (no programs in January, July, or August).
Teen Counselor Program
This is where the "Youth-Led" aspect shines in our GO! Program. With the supervision of KRC education staff, Teen Counselors help lead our GO! curriculum and activities.
​
Our Teen Counselors attend professional development trainings and meetings, are trained in First Aid and CPR, receive a stipend, and more.

Summer Camp
In the summertime, we offer ​Get Outdoors! Youth Led Camp; this is a FREE one-week summer day camp for youth ages 8-16 held on a beautiful private site along the Kings River.
Each day at camp we learn new skills, splash and swim in the cool water, play games, and do traditional camp activities like tie-dye and arts and crafts.

​Regular attendees of GO! Programs will have priority registration for Summer Camp.

Teen Counselor Applications
Applications for the 2026-2027 season will open on Monday, August 24th, 2026!

We're looking for Junior/Senior high school students to join the Get Outdoors! program as our Teen Counselors! Program benefits include a full set of outdoor gear, transportation and meals for all events, career development and networking opportunities, and a stipend of up to $1,800 upon program completion. Get Outdoors! Expectations
With funding from the California Natural Resource's Agency through the Youth Community Access Grant, the Youth Led Program provides opportunities for local youth to fully experience the Kings River. Program dates are family friendly, and lunch and transportation are available for all youth participants!

Youth under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times during program dates. Youth ages 10-18 may attend without a chaperone, but must be checked in and out by a parent or guardian.
​
Sample Weekend Program Schedule:
9:30 am - Arrival and Welcome
10:00 am - Hands on Activities 1 & 2
11:30 am - Lunch and Free Time
12:30 pm - Hands on Activities 3 & 4
2:00 pm - Closing and Clean Up

Program activities vary seasonally and include mindfulness activities, outdoor skills, nature walks, water safety, games, and environmental education. For questions regarding the Get Outdoors! program, contact Elizabeth at education@kingsriverconservancy.org.

The Youth Led Program is another community access project through the California Natural Resources Agency to improve youth access to natural and cultural resources.
