School Field Trips
The Kings River Conservancy is excited to offer experiential learning opportunities for local 1st-6th grade students! Join us on a field trip at the Kings River Wildlife Area to enhance your classroom learning with observation of real world phenomena along the banks of the beautiful Kings River!
General Information
Dates
Trips are typically offered Monday-Thursday with some limited availability on Fridays. You will choose your preferred date on the field trip request form. If that date has already been booked or is otherwise not available, a KRC staff member will follow up to determine an alternate date.
Times
Trips typically last 4 hours and take place between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm and include time for a picnic lunch on site.

Field trips take place on multiple locations along the lower Kings River:

Curriculum and Activities
The river is a living classroom where students can explore, create, collaborate, and build connections with the world around them. Outdoor education provides opportunities for learners of all ages to develop curiosity, confidence, and a sense of stewardship through meaningful experiences in nature.

Our field trips are designed around three interconnected areas of outdoor learning:
Nature Through Creativity
Using art and observation to interpret the natural world.
Outdoor Exploration and Connection
Building confidence, teamwork, communication, and outdoor skills.
River Science and Investigation
Exploring ecosystems through hands-on scientific inquiry.
Each activity encourages students to build connections with the river through observation, hands-on exploration, scientific investigation, and collaboration.
