Youth Led Program
The Get Outdoors! Youth Led Program is designed to introduce local youth to the benefits of outdoor recreation through FREE fun and engaging activities along the Kings River!

Saturday Get Outdoors! Programs typically take place on the first Saturday of each month (no programs in January, July, or August).
​
Get Outdoors! Youth Led Camp is a FREE one-week summer day camp for youth ages 8-16 held on a beautiful private site along the Kings River. Each day at camp we learn new skills, splash and swim in the cool water, play games, and do traditional camp activities like tie-dye and arts and crafts.

Teen Counselor Applications
Applications for the 2026-2027 season will open on Monday, August 24th, 2026!
We're looking for high school students ages 16-18 to join the Get Outdoors! program as our Teen Counselors! Program benefits include a full set of outdoor gear, transportation and meals for all events, career development and networking opportunities, and a stipend of $1,830 upon program completion. Get Outdoors! FREE summer day camp is tentatively scheduled for July 20th-July 24th, 2026. Attendees of Saturday program events receive priority registration for summer camp.

About the Get Outdoors! Youth Led Program
With funding from the California Natural Resource's Agency through the Youth Community Access Grant, the Youth Led Program provides opportunities for local youth to fully experience the Kings River. Program dates are family friendly, and lunch and transportation are available for all youth participants!

Youth under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times during program dates. Youth ages 10-18 may attend without a chaperone, but must be checked in and out by a parent or guardian.

Sample Weekend Program Schedule:
9:30 am - Arrival and Welcome
10:00 am - Hands on Activities 1 & 2
11:30 am - Lunch and Free Time
12:30 pm - Hands on Activities 3 & 4
2:00 pm - Closing and Clean Up

Program activities vary seasonally and include mindfulness activities, outdoor skills, nature walks, water safety, games, and environmental education. For questions regarding the Get Outdoors! program, contact Elizabeth at education@kingsriverconservancy.org.

The Youth Led Program is another community access project through the California Natural Resources Agency to improve youth access to natural and cultural resources.
