Celebrating a year of growth!

Thank you to everyone who has supported KRC during this year of expansion!  In 2025 we hired our first full-time Executive Director, expanded education programs through school field trips to the river and the Get Outdoors! program --including hiring seven High School Counselors-- and increased efforts to maintain safe and beautiful public access along the river with six trail tenders working weekly on properties along the Kings.

Trail Tender Position Description

The Kings River Conservancy (KRC) is seeking 2 part-time Trail Tenders to assist with the maintenance of KRC owned or managed properties and trails along the Kings River between Highway 180 and Pine Flat Dam.  Trail Tenders work in teams of two when in the field.  Availability from 8:00 am - 11:00 am on Friday and Saturday mornings is strongly preferred.


Time Commitment: 

  • 6-10 hours/week, preferably Friday and Saturday mornings.  


Pay:

$16.50/hour


Responsibilities:

Trail Crew

  • Perform basic trail maintenance and repair using sustainable trail techniques, including:

    • Remove tree limbs and fallen trees from the trail, and prune encroaching limbs as needed

    • Make sure that all signs and trail emblems are in place and well maintained, including graffiti removal as needed

    • Maintain all trailheads, kiosks, bathrooms and other infrastructure for cleanliness and maintenance, including graffiti removal and basic janitorial services as needed (wiping surfaces, replacing toilet paper, etc.)

    • Inventory potential hazards and/or larger repair jobs or those that require different tools

    • Mow or cut all weeds, brambles, briars, and high grass encroaching on the trail

    • Removal of dangerous,noxious, or invasive plant species; or inventory for future vegetative management projects

    • Pick up litter

  • Safely use and maintain tools and equipment including: brushes, loppers, pole saws, rakes, shears, and shovels

  • Responsible for safety of self and others on crew

  • Represent the Kings River Conservancy in interactions with the public

Event Support

  • Support trail days and other KRC events as needed, including set-up, clean-up, and representing KRC 


Minimum Qualifications: 

The successful applicant must possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Knowledge of sustainable trail techniques

  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to and from work sites

  • Physical capability to lift up to 40 lbs, bend, crouch, walk on uneven terrain, and endurance to conduct fieldwork in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees 


Desired Qualifications: 

Ideally, the successful applicant will possess the following skills:

  • Trail building experience

  • Backcountry experience

  • First Aid & CPR certification
